Or I could borrow my daughter's car, she has a pass. Ive trapped maybe 6 or 7 racoons over the years to discourage them from sharing my house. The angriest one, probably a pregnant female, ran straight away when I slid up the exit door. I was never quite sure how far yuo have to move one to keep him from finding his way home.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7936944538612129211.post-44302574045726905642010-04-06T10:18:17.305-04:002010-04-06T10:18:17.305-04:00Angela - I came across your blog by accident... I ...Angela - I came across your blog by accident... I do "TNR" (trap-neuter-return) of feral cats in Pennsylvania and I and others frequently get raccoons get caught in traps. Just in case this happens again, here's some info: we release them straight out every time (if we called animal control here they would have to take them and kill them - PA game commission law). As long as you lift up the trap door and stand BEHIND the trap (so the raccoon's exit is pointing away from where you are) the raccoon will head away from you as fast as its legs can take it and it will not waste time messing with you (what seems like "angry" is actually "very very scared"). I don't know anyone here yet who's been attacked by an exiting raccoon caught in a cat trap. However, if the raccoon is acting odd (foaming mouth, partially paralyzed...) don't try this. That said, a rabid raccoon is unlikely to go into a trap because it won't respond to bait... Thanks for letting this guy go safely. Great blog music by the way. Having said that, I know several people who do homeschooling, where there children take classes a few days a week at various homeschooling centers. I don't blurt out that I homeschool as it seems to be a conversation stopper or I'm subjected to someone's criticism (ignorance) of homeschooling. My stadard answer to "why" I homeschool is that we are a Navy family. This seems easier for the masses to digest.
I always find it so interesting that we have to justify what we're doing for our children. I occasionally point the "why" question back at those who seem to think I'm deranged for choosing to homeschool. It leaves them puzzling for a responce to my question. A couple of times, it really pissed the person off. Oops. So, I'm not the "social norm". "Why" does the general public care how I choose to educate my children as long as they are safe, healthy and happy?

It was great to stumble onto your blog. Enjoyed this very revealing post.

As far as the "submissive" issue...I heard a talk one time that being submissive is stepping back so that God can slap your husband. Often we try to step in and try to fix our husbands, and I think this is God's way of saying - you can't do that, only I can. I try to remember that when times are tough. God doesn't say be submissive, lose who I created you to be. It doesn't mean squelching your personality, foregoing your gifts or losing your independence. Frankly, I am kind of happy at not have the weight of bearing the complete and total responsibility before God of making sure there is love in our house. Can you tell this was a thorn in my side for a while? I have done a lot of scripture study on it. It is a beautiful picture when done correctly, but what part of God's design isn't!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7936944538612129211.post-76080041256227715432010-03-10T02:33:54.727-05:002010-03-10T02:33:54.727-05:00Excellent.... It has been quite a wake-up call to realize that I now fit into the "overweight" category on my doctor's office poster! I think the emphasis has to be on eating and living healthy. That's the emphasis my hubby and I put on any talk about food/exercise/etc. Hopefully our boys will pick up on that, and not what the media tells them! Tell Curly Girl she is not alone in the non-tanning department. Always wanted to have that olive skin, but I'm encouraged by the Hollywood actresses like Alexis Bledel and others who seem to be embracing their porcelain skin in photo shoots and magazine layouts nowawdays!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
